In Conclusion...

Thinking about it logically, I think the human mind (or my inferior equivalent) subconsciously tries to make sense of stuff where possible. That could be what my dreams are doing. Perhaps putting songs in there that are somehow relevant to my actual life.

However, I reckon there's an element of my conscious thinking (what there is of it) in linking those songs to events after I wake. Kind of like the way a horoscope can be related to loads of different people at the same time. You've just gotta think about it.

Thus, as with all my history essay type conclusions, I haven't arrived at a definite answer.

C+ (Could do better)

P.S. If any particular gold comes up, I'll stick it on here. Other than that, I'm outta here...

I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself

Perfect. Yet again. Extra perfect as I reckon this is the last one. Perhaps I'll write a conclusion, history essay style...

Yankee Doodle

In particular the line; "Put a feather in his cap and called it macaroni"

There's some interesting history behind this song.

"'Yankee Doodle' is a well-known British song the origin of which dates back to the Seven Years War. It has been widely adopted in the United States and is often sung patriotically today. It is the state anthem of Connecticut."

Thank you Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yankee_Doodle

Sunday, April 5, 2009

Dude (Looks Like A Lady)

One of many songs which can be hilariously adapted for my name.

Saturday, April 4, 2009

Mr Tambourine Man

This one is iTunes' fault. It kept coming up on random yesterday, over and over and over...

Friday, April 3, 2009

Mountain Town

The music in the South Park movie is hella good. This is the song from the very first scene. Gold.

Thursday, April 2, 2009

More Or Less

A song that has bits that sound strangely like 'The Darkness', not so much in style but just a melody or two. Not that I wish to besmirch their name, but I wouldn't be too surprised if they stole stuff off of 'Screaming Trees'...

I wasn't feeling all that angry though...

I may have to catch up the weekend posts on Monday as our internet is down. You only got this one through the wonders of the library. I'll be back...

Starting listening to the old iPod, so some different stuff, like this may occur.

Tuesday, March 10, 2009

Bit of Green Day to start a relaxing Sunday, nice.

Carol Of The Bells

One of the better Christmas carols, but a Christmas carol in March nonetheless...

Friday, March 6, 2009

Bittersweet Symphony

You can have no idea how apt the title of this song was to accompany the dream I woke up from. Absolutely perfect.

Wednesday, March 4, 2009

Tuesday, March 3, 2009

Independence Day Theme

Quite why this was in the old noggin this morning I do not know, but it's a good tune. I think I have the composer correct.

Monday, March 2, 2009

Run To You

Aaaah, Bryan Adams. I once did this at karaoke, it was OK. Probably my favorite Bryan Adams song, although between this and Summer Of '69, it's a very close call.

Sunday, March 1, 2009

Day Man

A hilarious song from one of the greatest TV shows in the world: 'It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia'.

Saturday, February 28, 2009

Original Prankster

Offspring, one of their more annoying songs. Having said that, I quite like it.

Friday, February 27, 2009

Shadow Of The Season

Oh sweet oblivion, feels alright...

Thursday, February 26, 2009

Il Canto Degli Italiani

Yes! A national anthem! Superb tune, one of the best national anthems out there. Italy is well up there with Russia.

Wednesday, February 25, 2009

Flight Of The Bumblebee

Nice change of pace, and appropriately bizarre for the bizarre day I'm having.

Tuesday, February 24, 2009

Morning Glory

Oasis, a fine tune, although not my favorite band of all time by any stretch of the imagination.

Monday, February 23, 2009

How I Could Just Kill A Man

Cypress Hill! Thank God, something to add a bit of variety to the last few posts, I was beginning to look PJ obsessed. My 2nd favorite Cypress Hill tune, but it is a great one.

Sunday, February 22, 2009

Anna Molly

Yet further indication that my pre-bed guitaring is having an influence. I can't really play this yet though, cos I'm not very good! My favorite Incubus song ever.

Saturday, February 21, 2009

Glycerine

I think this was in my head because I was playing 'Don't Stop Believing' by Journey on the guitar last night, and Glycerine has the same chords.

Friday, February 20, 2009

Stardog Champion

Well, it isn't Pearl Jam, but it's as close as you can possibly get to Pearl Jam without being them.

Mother Love Bone, an epic tune from an epic album.

Thursday, February 19, 2009

25 Minutes To Go

Johnny Cash, but covered by Pearl Jam. I think they're featuring heavily recently because I'm listening to them far too much.

Wednesday, February 18, 2009

Blood

Pearl Jam are back and not in no acoustic version either...

"Spin me round, roll me over, fucking circus..."

Tuesday, February 17, 2009

The Wicker Man

Iron Maiden, and also a movie. The original was good, remake sucked.

Great tune too.

Monday, February 16, 2009

Creeping Death

Yeah, Metallica getting Biblical all over our asses!

"So let it be written, so let it be done, I'm sent here by the chosen one..."

Gold.

Sunday, February 15, 2009

Hey Jude

The Beatles. Love the bit at the end.

Saturday, February 14, 2009

Hornblower

This music's been in my head on and off for weeks previous. I think it's written by John E. Keane, but I don't know what it's called, Hornblower is the TV show. It's great music.

Friday, February 13, 2009

Glorious

Andreas Jonsson apparently. Had to look this one up to make sure. NO idea what that's doing in my head. Still, it is early...

Thursday, February 12, 2009

The Throne Room

From the worst scene in 'Star Wars: A New Hope'. John Williams does fine work, but my brain is not making it easy for me to look cool recently.

Wednesday, February 11, 2009

I Believe In Miracles

The Ramones, not that Full Monty song. Thank God. Thus I regain a little respectability. Just a little.

Tuesday, February 10, 2009

Everywhere

Oh no. Just when I thought my brain was rebuilding it's respectability after the 'Raining on Prom Night' debacle, it goes and wakes me up with Michelle Branch. Nooooooooooooooooooo!!!

Monday, February 9, 2009

I Am The Highway

Audioslave, and this one's lingering longer than a post curry Renegade classic.

Sunday, February 8, 2009

Fire

Jimi Hendrix, what a guy.

Saturday, February 7, 2009

Suite In G Major

Yo-Yo Ma performing some Bach. Brilliant music and brilliantly played on the cello.

Friday, February 6, 2009

Think About You

Guns N Roses are in my brain and they ain't going anywhere!

Thursday, February 5, 2009

Know Your Enemy

Rage! About time. Awesome song.

Wednesday, February 4, 2009

Fluorescent Adolescent

Arctic Monkeys. I don't even really like the Arctic Monkeys, nor do I know how this song goes, apart from the start. But there it was/still is, playing repetitively in my head.

It came in combination with a dream about fighting a guerilla war against robots with a completely useless idiot from school and a character from 'Band of Brothers' who then turned into a character from 'Hornblower'. Weird, weird, weird...

Tuesday, February 3, 2009

Raining On Prom Night

The embarrassment factor here is diminished by the fact that it was the Me First and the Gimme Gimme's version. But still, fairly embarrassing.

Monday, February 2, 2009

The Pot

To keep the happy theme going, a bit of early morning Tool.

Sunday, February 1, 2009

How Soon Is Now

Ooo, The Smiths. That's not depressing in any way.

"So you go and you stand on your own, and you leave on your own, and you go home, and you cry and you want to die."

Strange thing is I'm in a good mood today...

Saturday, January 31, 2009

Revelations/Japanese Boy

So sometimes I wake up with music in my head that I don't recognise. Maybe it's something I heard, maybe it's my brain trying to be creative without stupid thinking getting in the way.

But I think this is the first time my brain's mixed together two songs like this. Truly strange. Audioslave and Aneka, you don't know what you're missing.

Friday, January 30, 2009

Thank God It's Monday

NOFX. Ate first glance this doesn't make much logical sense, but the line that I was hearing when I woke up was, "I really never liked Fridays". Which makes a lot more sense.

Thursday, January 29, 2009

Baba O'Riley

Didn't really sleep yesterday - hence no post.

But today it was The Who that roused me from my slumber. Teenage wasteland indeed.

Tuesday, January 27, 2009

Portions For Foxes

"There's blood in my mouth, cos I've been biting my tongue all week..." was the line in my head this morning.

It's a good song, perhaps Rilo Kiley's finest. I shall recharge the iPod so I can hear it today.

Monday, January 26, 2009

Sometimes

Overslept somewhat today and awoke with the gentle guitar intro of Pearl Jam's "Sometimes" in my head. And it was a live version if that means anything.
